Cedar River Garden Center offers a wide variety of materials for your landscaping needs.  When planning your next “do-it-yourself” project, we invite you to stop by and pick up your materials or we are happy to deliver to your location.  We carry:  sand, 3/8″ minus with lime; Chips 3/8″ clean; 3/4″ clean; 1″ clean; 1″ minus with lime.

3/8″ or 3/4″ minus is excellent for:

  • Base material since the lime with the gravel firmly compacts creating a base for under pavers, block, decorative rock, or stone for walls
  • Driveways
  • Pathways
  • Pipe drainage

3/8″, 3/4″ and 1″ clean/washed is good to use for:

Calculating Yardage – Take the length (feet) x width (feet) x depth (inches) divide by 324 = the cubic yards needed. [For example, you have an area 6′ x 10′ x 3″ = 60 sq ft ÷ 324 = .56 cubic yards or 1 skid loader scoop.]

  • 1/2 yard (1 scoop) = 1,350 lb (.68 tons)
  • 1 yard (2 scoops) = 2,700 lb (1.35 tons)
  • 1.5 yards (3 scoops) = 4,050 lb (2.02 tons)

  • 2.5 yards (5 scoops) = 6,750 lb (3.37 tons)

1 scoop = 13.5 cu ft = 80 sq ft, 2″ deep
